It’s that time of year again. Time for the You Can Donut Walk, Run or Crawl Five or Ten K.
This year, the event is going to be held between Friday, March 27th, and Sunday, March 29th.
We are going to have a group element at The Monon Center,in Carmel, Indiana at 9am on Saturday, March 29th. If you can make it great, if not, no problem.
You can run, walk or crawl from where ever you are most comfortable.
All you have to do is post where you completed the 5k and how many people completed it with you on the Facebook event page.
If you have trouble signing up, leave a comment below and I will look into it.
I don’t want to see any “might” attends. You can do it. You have the entire weekend to complete three miles. If you can’t find one hour in a weekend to walk three miles…. you can donut.
Looking for a training plan for this? Search Couch to 5k or Runkeeper. I have been using Runkeep to train for the Carmel Marathon. Many of these programs have you running a couple days a week. You will not be running or walking every day. Usually it three days a week. Find one you like and go with it. You’re walking or running a 5k, you’re not training for the Olympics.
Two month into this challenge. Down 15.6 and finally crossed the 240 threshold. I’m a little behind my pace by 0.4. We’ll make it up in March.
Today, I set a goal of running four miles in 40 minutes. With some work, I ran it in 36 minutes. I know there are plenty of people who can run four miles a lot faster than 36 minutes. But, this was my Everest and I did it. This has to be my fastest treadmill time for any distance. The treadmill looked like a satellite trying to renter the atmosphere.
Things are going well. It’s a slow go but we got this.
If you’re thinking about starting a wellness journey and not sure where to start…just start. Just start walking down the path and don’t overthink it. Just donut.
Through exercise and diet, I’m down 14.8 pounds since 12/15/14. Just 25.2 more to go by May 2015 to lose 40 pounds. I’m feeling and eating better.
Last night, while watching The Biggest Loser, my kids thought I should apply because they knew I would win. I’m not sure about that. I’d surely give it my best shot. But, for them to see the changes I’m making now and them thinking I could win it all made me very proud.
The big change this week has been my lovely wife packing a healthy lunch for me. I could do this on my own, but I am grateful she does this to keep me healthy and not spend and money on fast food.
I am sharing this to motivate other who want to make this change. Is it impossible? No. Is it hard work? Hell yeah. Everywhere you go, you have to make decisions.
One change I made was switching from the FitBit Zip to the Flex. Not sure if this will help, but we’ll see.
